BIRCO was founded in 1927 as a coal and building materials supplier. As early as the 1950s, the first concrete drainage channels were produced for agricultural use. This triggered the idea of producing drainage channels for traffic areas. In 1965 BIRCO was the first German producer of a concrete
channel covered with a mesh grating. The beginning of BIRCO’s specializing in solid and environment-friendly channel systems for surface drainage was thus marked. Today BIRCO is amongst the leading suppliers of channel systems in Europe.
BIRCO only uses high quality C 40/50 concrete for its concrete channels. The stainless-steel channels and covers are made of V2A steel. Cast covers are black-immersion lacquered or galvanised, metal gratings are delivered galvanized. Our 4 mm solid steel frame connectors are galvanized with
a 70 μm thick layer and embedded into the channel. This guarantees you a particularly high level of load stability and long serviceable life: Quality that pays.
